What is data?

Data is a series of measurement, series of observation, series of raw facts does not convey any meaning. Data is not equal to information. Information is generated when data is processed.

Due to the exponential grow of data and several era of technological advancement. Huge electronic generation happens lead to huge deposit of data volume thus the domain evolved. So what is big data?

Data that can no longer store, process and analyze in traditional method. Big data is in distributed storage and distributed processed. Data is not longer bring to code (RDBMS) but it is code to data (map reduce).

Answer indirectly, “Big” is a size that cannot be measure. You can say 1TB/PB is big but RDMS still can store and process that size of data. Use time dimension ( traditional/ modern ) able to distinguish what is big data.

Analy(sis) it self is a process of studying, or researching complex to simple form. Analy(tic) is encapsulating analysis, a domain it self, method/tool.

Data science is an interdisciplinary field that harvest insight and information from data, by applying different kids of technique, statistic, mathematic, coding and domain knowledge.

Answer indirectly, “Science” normally relates to experiments but in this case, it is use to mean field/industry. Also, scope is needed because it consist of many skill (mathematic, programming, data engineer, analytic, modeler and domain knowledge).
